Fear of failure is a soul-sucking limitation on your life that, so long as you have it, is undermining your success in life and squandering your unlimited potential.

You have deep thoughts, great goals, strong ideas, and high aspirations, but for some reason you haven’t taken action toward achieving your dreams. You’re eager to get out of your current situation in life and start building your future, yet you can’t even seem to manage taking the first measurable step toward making actual progress.

This is the fear of failure. It has a hold of you, and it desperately doesn’t want to ever let go.

Your fear of failure is so powerful that it rewards you with comfort when you listen to and obey that fear, then it punishes you with uncertainty and anxiety when you try and move forward and break free from your current boundaries, when you try to consciously overcome fear of failure.

You’ve been trained by virtually everybody you know, especially people you associate with and care about, to stay within your comfort zone. Don’t you find irony that people tell you to “be unique”, or “be original”, and to “think outside the box”, but once you attempt to do something new you’re punished by your peers and superiors for “not following company policy” and “not following the current system of efficiency”?

If that’s the story of your life, then you’re probably a mess on the inside, a walking contradiction, wanting to overcome fear of failure, break free, and create the life you deserve… yet you want to follow the rules, cater to the thoughts and desires of your peers and loved ones, and make everybody happy.

Who’s to blame for this? Well that’s simple, you are, so if you’re ready to blame others and point fingers, go look in a mirror.

Your fear of failure is your own fault, and it’s absolutely imperative to understand and acknowledge this fact if you truly want to cast off your chains and dismiss your crippling fear of failure. Take responsibility and admit that you’ve been allowing yourself to be controlled all these years, that you only have yourself to blame for always trying to please everybody else, that it was more important in your own mind to “fit in” rather than be outstanding and to seize incredible success.

This can be a very difficult process, as most people are so accustomed to blaming something or somebody else when things don’t work out in the way that they wanted or expected them to. When you fail in your attempt at something, one of two things usually happens. You’re either scolded, or you’re consoled.

Consider the following, as this is an example in which your fear of failure has an opportunity to expand it’s control over you after you’re disciplined…

You make an attempt at changing a regular process at your workplace. If things work out as you expect them to, then the time to complete the task that you’re trying to change will be cut in half. Things don’t go so smoothly however, and the task ends up taking twice as long, rather than half as long. Noticing this, your supervisor pulls you aside to question your methods and scold you, lecturing you on “how things work around here” so that you don’t make another attempt in the future.

When you let a situation like this affect you negatively, then that’s when your fear of failure drills deeper into your subconscious so that you instinctively form a habit to avoid conflict and “do as you’re told”.

Now consider this next example, as your fear of failure can also take advantage of your emotions while disguised as a gesture of love and affection…

Let’s say your passion is writing, and you want to make a living as a professional novelist. You’ve written a book in which you’ve put a great deal of care and effort into, and you’ve paid thousands of dollars to have it published and marketed. Your authorization hits bookstores everywhere, but your book turns out to be a total flop and sells only a handful of copies, which is in direct contrast to your expectation that your heartfelt novel would fly off store shelves and you’d have finally achieved your dream career as a professional writer.

Now picture that you have a spouse who loves you deeply, and they do their best to console you. You can see how much emotional and financial stress that pursuing your dreams has put on the person you love, so your fear of failure uses your own affections to feed you the disempowering belief that if you ever attempt something like this again, then it means that you’re hurting the person you love.

Though it may seem that the circumstances are the cause of your developed fear of failure, you have to look deeper into the matter. Who caused the circumstances? You did, by letting your own mind establish the belief that failing at something would mean deep personal pain.

If you dream of being successful, then you’ve got to have the mindset of a successful person.

An unsuccessful person is controlled by their fear of failure, and sees failure as something person, something painful, and something disabling.

A successful person sees failure for what it really is, an outcome, a result, and a learning experience that will help them grow in wisdom and knowledge.

So how do you get to the point where you stop being an unsuccessful person, overcome fear of failure, and become a successful person who’s happily driven and constantly taking action towards their dreams?

Though your fear of failure has become the monster that it is now because of your failure to discipline yourself and condition your mind for success, overcoming your fear of failure and finally taking action to accomplish your goals can be completed by disciplining and conditioning yourself with six simple yet powerful steps.

I’ve spent many hours designing a small ebook specifically with you in mind, one with six incredibly powerful and easy to follow steps that will help you overcome fear of failure. The book is titled How to Leave Your Fear of Failure in the Dust, and so long as you follow the six simple steps within it’s pages, you will do exactly as the title suggests.
